The whole locality grows tea but for this tour, we focus on the Kiambethu tea estate established in the 1910 by McDonnell who bought the land, planted the tea crops and became the first grower to sell and produce tea commercially in Kenya. Five generations have lived and managed the farm ever since and currently the farm is run by his granddaughter Fiona Vernon. The farm house is centrally located and surrounded by the evergreen acres of tea. You shall be served by a delicious lunch in the course of your tour

During you tour you will notice that the tea is being plucked in a special technique: two top leafs and a bud. Inside the farm an indigenous forest which was preserved after most of it was cleared to create room for the tea farm and also a home for the colubus monkeys.
